Good day gamers, Chiekotz here doing a review of Capcom's latest game Resident Evil 5 for the PS3. I will make my review as simple/short as possible. It's quite obvious but i'll still say it anyway, my review is subjective, i didn't read any review from another website and pasted it here nor was i influenced by others. This is my personal opinion.
Pros:
- The graphics are just stunning and vivid how i wish all games follow the lead of this game, this game took advantage of the power of the PS3/Xbox360. This is the type of game which will make you thank the lord for having the gift of eye sight. Every area that i go through is just so real. It makes you feel you really are in Africa. Every second playing this game was an event.
Tip: Use an LCD/Plasma TV, SDTV just wont cut it.
- I love the way my character moves, i find a bit realistic, i can feel the weight of my gear on my control pad
- Another feature that i like in this game are the interactive controls, there are times that you need to press a certain button to get out of a sticky situation or perform a combo after shooting a Majini, i love Chris & Sheevas melee attacks and combos/defense (Dodge, Hold, Counter, Uppercut, Kick etc) By the way, there are secret moves which you can find in You Tube.
- The in game music is great especially when you are being chased or something tense is happening, the sound of heads exploding are nicer. I also like the sound the Majini makes as well as the sound of the guns.
- Lots of weapons and when you have maxed out a certain weapon a new is available for purchase, my favorite are the magnum class guns
- The achivements are nice and rewards you accordingly. I find hunting the achievements for this game very addictive especially chasing the infinite ammo and alternate costume bonus. And repeating a level to get an achievment is fun especially if you have a strong weapon.
- The AI is awsome on higher difficulties however on Normal & Amatuer mode its a walk in the park, it doesnt mean that the enemy is near you mean you will get damaged, there is usually a huge timeframe in which you can defend you self. Ex. When battling the "Chainsaw Guy" i take one step sideways, shoot, sideways, shoot, you' dont really need a lot of space to play with.
Cons:
-Still no run and gun :(
- The controls are a huge leap compared to Resident Evil 1,2 etc, back in those days i controlled my character like a tank. (To those who have played this, you know what i mean, to those who havent played the past Resident Evil Games, then you wont heheehehehheeheh). I hate the way the character turns since its slow, i hope there is someway i can adjust the sensitivity. There is a quick 180 degree turn though but what i'm after for are the side turns.
- Aiming-wise i wish they had used a cross hair that expands while you are shooting instead of a laser sight, i was never a fan of this device anyway, i know it sounds odd but i can aim better without one.
- Online on Resident Evil 5 doesn't give me that much of an appeal, the only pay off i guess is i have a partner that actually thinks compared to having an AI partner. Plus i can show off to the other player my special guns and gear ehehehehhe. The consolation though is repeating the same level is fun knowing that you are playing with somebody compared to knowing its an AI.
- Don't expect a survival horror setting the Resident Evil series is known for since you have a partner and you fight in broad daylight 80% of the time. That removes the scare factor.
