GAME REVIEW: Killzone 2

Important note: These are my personal opinions and i was not influenced by other articles or people. Oh, and i dont have the high sadistic standards of Simon Cowell. But they are not low as well.

Ahhhhh...the highly anticipated sequel to Playstation 3's line up of killer platinum titles, Killzone 2!!! This game was first dubbed "The Halo Killer" although the first installment 4 years ago was a fluke. But this year Halo was "KillzOWNED" the only advantage Halo has over this game is the main character, Master Chief will always be remembered unlike the hero in this game named "Sev", how i wish they stuck with Jan Templar. Anyway, Killzone 2 wins in every other category over Halo.

Pros:

- Awsome graphics, when a grenade explodes near you, you can see dust and debri on the screen, the same thing goes with water. When i went to the desert-looking stage, i felt sand was in my eyes, yes, thats how great the graphics are, so damn realistic, it really transports you to another world. The graphics were so good, looking around the area was a treat, unlike other games where you just zip around and leave without appreciating the surroundings.

- Abso-Fucking-lutely great music and sound effects, this is where i enjoyed my investement on a decent home theater surround set up, the battle scenes are so tense whenever i get shot at, i immedieately touch different parts of my body to check if there are wounds (Of course i'm exaggerating but you get the idea), you can hear the ricochet of the bullets and cement being chucked away by gun fire and thanks to my surround sound set up i know where i'm being shot at. Great voice acting as well.

-Online matches are just legendary, you have 6 classes to choose from and those classes level up and grants you unique skills and the game rewards you for certain achivements regularly. Also, you can choose the region you wanna play with unlike other games which are region locked, there are shitloads of game filters to maximize your search and you dont have to wait long to start a match.

- AI is a bitch, throwing grenades without cooking them first will definitely be dodged by the enemies or at least most of them, the Helghast keeps on moving from one place to another sometimes they do an offensive charge and kill you in your hiding spot either by shooting you point blank or melee. And i love the way they react when you shoot them (whether they die or just get injured), so fucking realistic, great motion capture sequence. It makes you want to shoot them more.

- Controls needs a little bit of getting used to since its completely different from most games (Aiming is a bitch as well, you will NEVER get a kill if you mash the shoot button, just a couple of bullets will destroy your aim), it feels so real, you can feel the weight of the wepons/gear on you control pad, when you jump, its not a matter of the screen going up and down but you can feel your entire body jump, it even has a slight lag. Other people find this annoying but this is how controls for FPS should be like. I love it.

Cons:

- Short single player campaign, its like ordering a bigmac and getting 1/4 the size, just pour all those hours of gameplay in multiplayer mode. Or in the case of the Bigmac, order a quarter pounder. :D

- The main character does not leave a lasting impression, i mean Halo's Master Chief would be in the minds of every gamer forever but Killzone 2's Sev will just be another main character. I wish they have just stuck with Jan Templar, that might change things a bit but not to a point it can overshadow Master Chief.

- The number of weapons are decent but i want a plethora of weapons, like in Metal Gear Solid 4

- I hate it when key people/partners die

- With a game this famous i was expecting game add ons on the PSN

Finding a flaw on this game is like looking for a flaw on a Ferrari, it's hard.

9.5/10 on my book

GAME REVIEW: Resident Evil 5

Good day gamers, Chiekotz here doing a review of Capcom's latest game Resident Evil 5 for the PS3. I will make my review as simple/short as possible. It's quite obvious but i'll still say it anyway, my review is subjective, i didn't read any review from another website and pasted it here nor was i influenced by others. This is my personal opinion.

Pros:

- The graphics are just stunning and vivid how i wish all games follow the lead of this game, this game took advantage of the power of the PS3/Xbox360. This is the type of game which will make you thank the lord for having the gift of eye sight. Every area that i go through is just so real. It makes you feel you really are in Africa. Every second playing this game was an event.

Tip: Use an LCD/Plasma TV, SDTV just wont cut it.

- I love the way my character moves, i find a bit realistic, i can feel the weight of my gear on my control pad

- Another feature that i like in this game are the interactive controls, there are times that you need to press a certain button to get out of a sticky situation or perform a combo after shooting a Majini, i love Chris & Sheevas melee attacks and combos/defense (Dodge, Hold, Counter, Uppercut, Kick etc) By the way, there are secret moves which you can find in You Tube.

- The in game music is great especially when you are being chased or something tense is happening, the sound of heads exploding are nicer. I also like the sound the Majini makes as well as the sound of the guns.

- Lots of weapons and when you have maxed out a certain weapon a new is available for purchase, my favorite are the magnum class guns

- The achivements are nice and rewards you accordingly. I find hunting the achievements for this game very addictive especially chasing the infinite ammo and alternate costume bonus. And repeating a level to get an achievment is fun especially if you have a strong weapon.

- The AI is awsome on higher difficulties however on Normal & Amatuer mode its a walk in the park, it doesnt mean that the enemy is near you mean you will get damaged, there is usually a huge timeframe in which you can defend you self. Ex. When battling the "Chainsaw Guy" i take one step sideways, shoot, sideways, shoot, you' dont really need a lot of space to play with.

Cons:

-Still no run and gun :(

- The controls are a huge leap compared to Resident Evil 1,2 etc, back in those days i controlled my character like a tank. (To those who have played this, you know what i mean, to those who havent played the past Resident Evil Games, then you wont heheehehehheeheh). I hate the way the character turns since its slow, i hope there is someway i can adjust the sensitivity. There is a quick 180 degree turn though but what i'm after for are the side turns.

- Aiming-wise i wish they had used a cross hair that expands while you are shooting instead of a laser sight, i was never a fan of this device anyway, i know it sounds odd but i can aim better without one.

- Online on Resident Evil 5 doesn't give me that much of an appeal, the only pay off i guess is i have a partner that actually thinks compared to having an AI partner. Plus i can show off to the other player my special guns and gear ehehehehhe. The consolation though is repeating the same level is fun knowing that you are playing with somebody compared to knowing its an AI.

- Don't expect a survival horror setting the Resident Evil series is known for since you have a partner and you fight in broad daylight 80% of the time. That removes the scare factor.

GAME GUIDE: Resident Evil 5 Achievements List (COMPLETE)

Hello there fellow gamers, here is a guide for you if you want to complete the game aside from just plainly finishing it.

Once you get infinite ammo, it makes killing the Majini more fun!!! :D So far i have maxed out my magnum Revolver and my shotgun, everytime you max out an existing gun, a new one pops out, its expensive though and i have yet to find out if these expensive guns are better that what i currently have, although i know that if you max out your machine gun, you will get a gatling gun and i know thats fun to use so i cant wait to have it.

By the way, this guide contains spoilers so if you haven't finished the game yet, i suggest you do so first.

Cheers!!! :D

Click the link to start completing those achievements. I would like to thank the guy who made this guide possible :D

My 1st post on this blog

Ok so welcome to my fucking blog

So for some reason i decided to create a blog, i don't know why i did it. It's just that i saw a lot of people doing it so i said to myself, fuck it, let me give it a try, who knows what kind of fullfilment i will get, besides, i have joined several forums where opinion is more often that not expressed so i guess that led me to creating this blog. Geez, i can just imagine how my friends will react once they see this (although i'm confident they won't), i'm not the type of guy who participates in these kinds of activities (think of it as this way, you would be surprised Jim Carrey did a drama right? Or Michael Schumacher plays cricket? something to that extent), as i am writing this blog i feel a sense of freedom, hmmmmm...kinda feels good, i don't have to worry about grammar, what i write, what i think, besides how many people do you think will be able to fucking read this, there are fifillions of blogs in the world, how the fuck do you think they will stumble on mine, i have yet to meet a person who wastes his life reading other peoples blogs the whole fucking day. On that note, i feel a sense of privacy (of course i can be wrong, do they have a visitor counter for these things?). Anyway, in a sense it feels better writing whatever in a blog rather than let's say a MS Word Document or what have you.

After 10 minutes...

Fuck, i'm such a fickle minded prick, i'm going to design my blog in such a way that would make me proud when people read it, so a while ago, i created a blog for my own perusal but know it's the other way around. So i now have to do the tedious job of designing this shit (i hope cuzstomizing my blog will be a breeze)
